Wizkid Nominated For 7 Billboard Music Awards

may have missed out on a Grammy earlier this year, but his rise on the global music scene has continued with the Nigerian star bagging seven nominations at the Music .

Drake’s ‘One Dance’ hit song has earned Nigerian superstar seven Music nominations. After “One Dance”, Drake’s hit collaboration with him and Kyla, was shockingly ignored at the Grammys, it has gone on to score him seven nominations and a better chance of winning.

The popstar was nominated for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Selling Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song, Top Collaboration, Top R&B Song and Top R&B Collaboration, just one nod short of Beyonce’s eight nominations.

And took to Twitter to congratulate him.

Drake and The Chainsmokers lead the Billboard Music nominations list with 22 nods; followed by Twenty One Pilots (17) and Rihana (14). They will also square up for major categories such as Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist.

The Top Billboard 200 Artist list is led by Beyoncé and Drake, as well as late rock icon Prince, Twenty One Pilots and The Weeknd.

The awards, which will be hosted by Ludacris and Vanessa Hudgens. The annual awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Billboard says the nominees are split up into 52 different categories. Billboard ranks potential winners based on their song sales, streams, radio airplay, live tours and social engagement.

Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj, Celine Dion, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Drake, John Legend, Florida Georgia Line and Camila Cabello are expected to perform.

Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 18, 2016 through March 16, 2017.
