She was orphaned young. At 16 she had fled what was then home. She has not looked back. Life was difficult but she was a good student of life and has learned through her difficulties.
Now in her early thirties and famous, Zodwa Wabantu is determined her son should not face similar difficulties. The star dancer, who is signed to DJ Tira’s Afrotainment, is all out to give her son a head start.
“Everything I do has an end goal. I always have a plan. I am not here to play, when I say I am here for my money, I mean it. I am not a celebrity. I want to own everything I have so that my son doesn’t have to start from point one,” she told TshisaLIVE recently.
As a result, Zodwa Wabantu, who is said to earn nothing less than R25k per gig, has been investing heavily on what really counts, according to her: land, real estate. For her, right now, the most important thing is to secure the bag.
In fact, at some point, according to her, she even thought of going to pick a coffin for herself. Imagine.
Zodwa Wabantu may have her eyes on the future, but surely death is not something anyone would permit or even wish her right now. So, the hustle to secure the bag continues.
