Sho Madjozi is well known. Maya Wegerif may not be well known. But both are one and the same person. Madjozi is the stage name, and Wegerif is the given name of this South African queen of showbiz.
The “Huku” hitmaker was in faraway United States where she performed at the Afropunk Festival alongside stars from other countries.
It was her first performance in the United States, and she could barely conceal her excitement as she took to her Instagram page to post about her performance.
She wrote: “We did it!! First performance in the US – done! Thank you to everyone who came to support me 🙏🏾 @Afropunk thank you for the opportunity 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 more pictures will come soon. Right now I’m just blown away. Feeling so so blessed 📷: @smashafrika #AfropunkBrooklyn.”
The excitement must have been particularly strong, for she wasn’t content with just her performance at the festival. At the after-party held in Brooklyn, Sho Madjozi, who is the face of Trace Mobile #NEVEREXPIRE Campaign in South, made it to the DJ booth and began twerking to the pleasure of the viewers.
A bouncer was called in, and he took her away. However, the bouncer had to face the ignominy of seeing himself booed for taking the star off the stage.
For Sho Madjozi, it was a performance that never really was. She explained on Instagram Live: “I need you to understand how I was doing the most. They tried to kick me off multiple times but, seriously, I was doing a lot.”
