The duo of Mandla Maphumulo and Bongekile Simelane immediately became trending topics following a live recording of the assault on the latter’s Instagram Live account.
In fact, such was the outrage generated across social media platforms that several parties called for the arrest of Mampintsha as well as his prosecution.
Subsequently, the former Big Nuz member appeared in a Pinetown Magistrate’s Court in Durban on the same day, where he was eventually released on a R20,000 bail. He is due reappear in May.
“Babes arrived and she assaulted me. In my defence I hit her back. I made a mistake but no-one can accept to be attacked while asleep in bed. I’m sorry for my actions. I ask for forgiveness for raising my hand against her,” he said.
Not done, Mampintsha also accused Babes Wodumo of being an abusive bossy drunk who is out of control and cannot handle herself when intoxicated.
“Babes cannot handle her alcohol, she drinks too much and she is violent. This has been the case ever since the allegations that I assaulted her last year. Since then, she feels she is untouchable,” he said.
Mampintsha further defended himself saying he wasn’t a monster as people were making him out to be. He went further on how he made the “Wololo” singer and how he loves her, but he will also be opening a case of assault against her.
“I apologise for beating you (Babes), at the same time, I will also open a case because you also attacked me. People need to know the whole story. But for what happened, I am sorry, may God forgive me,” he concluded.
