The revelation by BET Award-winning South African artiste Sjava’s mother, that his talents saved her, has both shocked and awed the “Abangani” singer’s fans who already attest to the Sjava’s humility.
Jabulani Hadebe more popularly known as Sjava upon return from his trip to Los Angeles for the just concluded BET Awards and was received by family, friends and fans alike who joyously celebrated his success.
He had walked away with the Award for the Viewer’s Choice Best international Act category against the likes of Nigeria’s Niniola and Ghana’s Kwesi Arthur,.
It was here in the celebratory mood, that his family took turns to give insights into Sjava’s childhood. His mother, Ma’Nkabinde, beaming with pride, revealed that Sjava always had a flair for music and had been blessed with the talent from his child hood.
She went further to recount how she and his aunt once lost him at a concert only to later find him on stage singing hand in hand with none other than the South African reggae legend Lucky Dube.

She further reminisced on how young Sjava at times of intense need, on the days they would go to town and run out of money to get back home shortly after moving to Johannesburg from Kwa-Zulu Natal, would go to the busiest part of town to sing and dance, always earning enough tips from bystanders to get them home.
Ma’Nkabinde confessed to being a religious person, adding that she prayed for him to have success in Los Angeles and that she was certain that it was her prayer that came to pass.
Who says a mother’s prayer goes unanswered?
Once again, congrats to Sjava and his family. You can as well share your thoughts and wishes in the comments section below.
