What has passed for speculation a few days ago has been confirmed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC): One of the SABC’s programmes “Real Talk” will not make it for a fifth season.
“The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) would like to announce that SABC 3’s talk show programme ‘Real Talk’ will not be returning for a 5th season, when the current episodes of ‘Real Talk’ , which are repeat episodes conclude. The decision was taken following the new direction which the channel will be taking.
The SABC would like to thank Cheeky Media for their hard work and dedication in delivering ‘Real Talk’ to SABC 3 audiences,” the SABC said in a statement.
No reason was given for the cancellation, however. Some fans are opposed to the cancellation of the talk show, though, and are making a strident call for the show to return and for Noeleen Maholwana-Sanqu to return as host.
“Real Talk” began with Anele Mdoda, who later handed over to Azania Mosaka. While it lasted, “Real Talk” held every weekday between 1800hrs 1900hrs (6 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
