SABC TV and radio presenter Samora Mangesi, is recuperating following a nasty racial attack which he says happened after he had stopped to help people whose car had broken down.
Samora Mangesi took to social media platform, Twitter, to share the unfortunate encounter and how he was called a ‘monkey’ and beaten unconscious after he tried to help a group of young white men whose car had overturned.
“On Friday night I was the victim of a racially motivated attack. After stopping to check on a group of young white people whose car had overturned, they called my friends & I ‘monkeys’. When we engaged them on why we were being called such, they beat me up until I was unconscious,” he started the thread.
Samora Mangesi says he was not the only victim of the racial attack as his friend was almost also run over but for the intervention of the paramedics who had come to save his own life.
“Even whilst I was being put in the ambulance, one of these guys tried to run my friend over with his bakkie and the paramedics had to intervene,” he continued.

The TV and radio personality had toyed with the idea of letting things slide, but perhaps, the sharing of his story will lead to the further realization of the tensions is it relates to race and race relations in South Africa.
“Over the past couple of days I have toyed with the idea of letting it go and just continuing with my life, but apparently this is not the first time that this has happened to a black man in the West Rand, more especially around Wilropark.”
