Born 25 June 1981, PRO was one of the pioneers of South African Hip Hop. He was from Soweto and was signed to Gallo Record Company after his independently released track ‘Soweto’ became popular.

His popularity is largely because he proudly represents South African ‘Kasi’ (Township) life, rapping in a mixture of vernacular and English.

Most recently, he featured on “Sebentin Remix” off the “Cebisa” album of Zakwe alongside Musiholiq, Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Blaklez, and HHP.

Condolences are in order for the family of PRO and we hope they find the strength to navigate through these very challenging times.

RIP ProKid.

Note: An earlier report stated that he died in a suspected drive-by shooting at a time information was still hazy. For that we apologise.
