Controversy has bogged Cassper Nyovest’s steps these past few days.
From being dismissed by rapper EMTEE, to fighting Tsonga music star Benny Mayengani over the use of the supposed trademark #FillUp, to being harassed on Twitter over the death of a childhood friend… indeed it has not being too cool for Mufasa.
Trouble apparently began when he got news of the suicide, caused by depression, of a childhood friend and he took to Twitter to acknowledge the death and advise his followers to seek help in cases of depression.Source: Cassper Nyovest/ Instagram
His tweet reads: “Just got the news that one of my childhood friends took his life today. Guys depression is a real thing but it can be beaten. Please get help. We need you and we love you. Rea le rata Guys.”
What was supposed to be a didactic post ended up brewing controversy, factionalizing his fans. One faction felt Mufasa was in accord with himself, and offered its condolences.. The other felt otherwise.
A twitter user going by the handle @VMakibinyane wrote: “Yeah childhood friend. I can bet right now you didn’t even have his numbers or saw him often as you were supposed to. Vokof……tweeting about depression because it’s something we all talk about now, just to be relevant!”
Another tweeted, apparently attributing the friend’s suicide to unemployment: “Unemployment is killing south Africa”

This must be a little distracting for the “Tito Mboweni” hitmaker, but he surely still has his eyes on filling Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday December 1.
