Even with several denials from their camps, it does seem like all is not well between DJ Tira and former protegee, Mampintsha who now calls the shot as the boss of West Ink Records. The bone of contention this time is the appearance fee for Gqom Queen, Babes Wodumo.
It had been reported there were squabbles between the duo and it reached the heights earlier this year when the Afrotainment boss public confirmed that he no longer represented Mampintsha‘s kwaito group, Big Nuz.
This time, the appearance fee for “Wololo“ hitmaker, Babes Wodumo, is the subject of war. This is because DJ Tira believes the amount was jacked up when he called in to request her services at performing on his Gqom In Concert music festival stage slated for next month.
“I don’t know why I was quoted so much. I guess a person has a right to charge as much as they want, but I know for a fact that it was not her normal fee that I was being quoted. I don’t know if it was because it was me or the show, but the price was higher than we could afford and we could not match it. We hope that they will still come around and we can negotiate the fee,” DJ Tira told TshisaLIVE.
He further explained he was made aware that Babes Wodumo had been booked for that weekend, but they could however make things happen if he paid the premium price.
“I am not looking for a fight. I just want people to know why Babes won’t be performing at the festival. We (He and Mampintsha) are trying to make things work and we have spoke about other issues. It is all business,” he further explained.
Even though Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo couldn’t be reached to state their side of the story, their reps confirmed there was nothing personal as everything was all business.
