After a world of speculation and anticipation, the actor, model and entrepreneur made one of the biggest trends in the world of South African Hip Hop this year as she premiered her debut single.
With a world of positive feedback and exciting numbers, that dare looks to have paid off as she also scored her first South African Hip Hop Awards nomination.
Only thing is the fact that Boity’s ex-boyfriend, Cassper Nyovest got to share his thoughts on the diva’s addition to the game in a recent interview on Metro FM with Mo Flava and Masechaba Ndlovu.
During the sit-down, the “Tito Mboweni” mastermind revealed he has always known Boity as one with a passion for the genre.
“I know she’s passionate about rap music. Like, people don’t know Boity can rap. She probably can rap some of my albums like back to back, word for word, the whole album,” he said.
Well, the fact that the duo share a special bond and support for each other, even though their relationship never worked out is very well documented.
However, Mufasa had his reservations before Boity delved into the competitive world of SA Hip Hop and even had to be cautioned by close pal, Pearl Thusi.
“When she decided to make music, I’m like mad skeptical about it, I even spoke to Pearl about it, she knows I was like, ‘you know what I’m saying, she’s taking it seriously, she’s having fun, I don’t know, I’m looking from the outside like I don’t know what’s gonna happen’. Pearl is like mad supportive like ‘you hating, she’s gonna kill it’,” he stated.
Only thing is the The Family Tree Boss believes the success Boity has achieved on that outing and debut to be a beautiful thing even though he might have been blindsided by some of her decisions.
“Just to see someone embark on something and start from that and people really gravitate towards that and the support she’s getting, I can’t really hate on that it’s a beautiful thing to see… She caught me by surprise… Boity can keep secrets… Everything that you guys found out as the public I also found out the same way,” he concluded.
