Across South Africa, this week has been one of promises made and promises not fulfilled. Distruction Boyz. DJ Speedsta, and Kwesta had earlier explained why they failed to Metrro FM’s Heatwave in Kimberly.
According to Andre Lekota of BK Lifestyle Café, Babes Wodumo, who recently fought a white woman at the airport, had been booked to perform there on back-to-back nights. She failed to turn up on Friday, although she had shared a video that fans should meet her at the event.
The following day Saturday, she made it by 4 a.m. but, according to Andre Lekota, fans had become upset and beaten him up, accusing him of using Babes Wodumo’s name to sell his show.
“The patrons accused us of lying to them and using Babes’ name to get people to come to the club. I was trying to explain but they became more angry. A number of guys attacked me with fists. I don’t know if they hit me with anything else,” he told Daily Sun.
He went on to say that he would never book Babes Wodumo again.
Babes Wodumo’s manager has since come out to apologize and explain the reason for Babes Wodumo’s no-show: “When we apologised on Friday, we were sure we’d arrive on time on Saturday. We were coming from another gig and the directions we were given took ages. That’s why we arrived in the morning.”
Andre Lekota refused to buy the explanation. He is adamant he would never book Babes Wodumo again. Never.
