The father of Babes Wodumo, Reverend Welcome Simelane has lambasted Metro FM presenter, Masechaba Ndlovu for the way and manner in which she interviewed his daughter; leading up to revelation of abuse allegations against her partner, Mampintsha.
In a statement issued by Reverend Simelane, he asserts that the interview tactics of Masechaba Ndlovu felt more like an ambush as Babes Wodumo whose real name is Bongekile Simelane was caught off guard as she was not ready or prepared.
Babes Wodumo had announced she is no longer engaged to boyfriend, Mampintsha over allegations the Kwaito star had been abusing her.
The Gqom Queen made the revelation during an interview on Metro FM’s The Drive with Mo Flava and Masechaba. Babes further disclosed they were actually engaged according to widespread rumours making the rounds but that their engagement has now been called off.
However, Mampintsha whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo took to social media platform, Facebook, Saturday morning to release a statement in response to the abuse allegations leveled against him.
While Mampintsha says he is not comfortable discussing the full details in public, he did admit that he might have overreacted at times; possibly lending credence to claims he had laid his hands on the “Wololo“ star as being speculated.
“We were shocked to hear about it (the alleged abuse), we want the nation to know that we are against any kind of abuse against women. We were not even aware they were dating.”
While thanking everyone who has supported his daughter’s career, the cleric revealed Babes Wodumo is now an independent artist of her own having started her own label, Wena Wodumo Entertainment.
“After all, we thank Mandla Maphumulo for discovering talent in Babes and grooming her to be where she currently is. We thank all those who supported our daughter, it’s truly showed how much she is loved.” “You have showed you love her, God bless”. he concluded.
