Why you should drop a mixtape

Most artists take time off between album releases; and to keep the buzz going some release mixtapes in between their last album release and upcoming release to stay relevant and create a buzz.

A is a collection of music by an artiste usually released for free. Compared to an album, a has less structure. It is usually a combination of original songs, covers or songs recorded over the instrumentals of already existing songs.

This sort of projects are used not only by upcoming rappers and singers but also established acts. For upcoming acts, dropping a is one of the steps taken towards putting in place a long-term career in music.

Here are reasons why you should release at least one in your musical career.

1. To showcase your art to the world

Rapper, Gucci Mane.
