Three of South Africa’s leading lights in the music industry have done the nation proud on the global stage. This is Supermega, AKA, Gqom Queen, Babes Wodumo, as well as Mabala Noise Entertainment Rapper, Nasty C have all been nominated in the Best International Act: Africa category at the BET Awards 2017.
The news didn’t come to us as a surprise considering the waves the trio made in one calendar year. AKA released the chart-topping sensation – “The World Is Yours“ to critical acclaim. The “Dreamwork” rapper has proven to be an artist that is very well deserving of international recognition.
With her “Wololo“ anthem still disturbing the peace and causing chaos around social circles; Babes Wodumo unleashed her massively successful “Gqom Queen (Vol 1)” album to instant success. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed and this BET Awards nomination is a fitting reward.
Wonder Boy, Nasty C who completed the successful South African representation dropped his “Bad Hair“ album to massive fan-delight. Not done, he made an unprecedented move as he followed it up with “Bad Hair Extensions“. These projects we predict will remain with us for years to come.
However, bringing home the BET Award will not be all easy as AKA, Babes Wodumo and Nasty C still need to square off in a tough competition with Nigerian superstars including Wizkid, Davido, Tekno and Mr Eazi, who are all nominated in the same category.
The BET Awards 2017 takes place in Los Angeles, California, June 25. We wish these South African ambassadors the very best.
