K1 god, Kwesta continues on the year of the Kwesta, 2017, with a monster hit single titled “Spirit.” The “Ngiyaz’Fela Ngawe“ star didn’t go this effort alone; he scores the feature of Nigerian-American rapper, Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, more famously known as Wale, on one of the first international offerings off his upcoming album.
What a season it has been for Kwesta. After a decade of hustle and grind on the circuit, his efforts finally paid off but in a big, massive way. The Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng-born rapper dropped his “Dakar II“ album to critical acclaim – earning several awards and a platinum earning streak to match.
Plus, his craft and artistry got noticed even on the global stage with several international performances already in the bag and more international collaborations to come. “Spirit” is one of such pay-offs and again, Kwesta whose real name is Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, proves the quality that he is made of.
He made the this record a breezy and dreamy vibe that just encapsulates the musical mind and soul. Plus, with Kwesta handling the bouncy hook, you know he is not regarded as the ‘GOAT’ for flimsy reasons. Do we begin to countdown to the awards and platinum plaques already?
Then, add the further authority and legitimacy of Wale, the universal act who has never shied away from his African roots. He comes through on “Spirit” with the laid-back but tactfully plotted lyrical lines that provides the solid and sturdy ladders of support which showcases the bond of the brotherhood from the Motherland.
Overall, “Spirit” also holds with the very solid production – dope beats, stunning instrumentals and structured deliveries. There’s just no way this feast isn’t shooting right to the upper echelons of the charts and the airwaves. The festive months ahead just got insured!
Now, it looks like Kwesta is on the path towards bettering his previous project, which would be a very tall feat by all standards. However, he packs the composure and abilities having waited all these years to take his chance on a massively-competitive circuit.
