The “Black Panther” Album inspired by the Black Panther movie is here. The 11th track off that project of musical art is titled “Redemption” and t is a collaboration between South Africa’s very own Babes Wodumo and Zacari.
The saying prophets are not honoured in their homelands looks to refer to Babes Wodumo in particular. Despite her streak of massive hits and international recognition, which included a BET Awards nomination last year, her critics back home remain unrelenting.
However, perhaps another tribal offering on the global stage might just be about enough to convince the naysayers. This is because even with all the criticisms, her music blends perfectly on an up-tempo R&B piece; especially given the celestial vocals of Zacari.
In the end, it is the bouncy Afro-infused rendition of the West Ink and “Wololo“ damsel that brought all the energetic, bubbly and jolly feeling to bare on “Redemption.”
Zacari might still be a rookie or sophomore in the game, but he definitely does earn his cut having collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and other acts from the latter’s Top Dawg Entertainment.
You’ve got to celebrate Babes Wodumo and the culture by copping a dose of “Redemption.” Just be sure to share your thoughts and opinion in the comments section below.
