Serena Williams survives upstart Teenager Caty McNally in three sets

American tennis player, Caty McNally has played the second US Open match of her life on Wednesday night, with the greatest player of all time, Serena Williams.

The 17-year-old McNally gave Serena Williams an epic battle for the better part of two hours before Williams restored order and recaptured the punishing form she showed in her first-round destruction of Maria Sharapova.

Other than that there wasn’t much to get acclimated to.  w

At the end of the match which held in the biggest tennis stadium on earth, the 37-year-old Williams prevailed, advancing with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 win in one hour, 54 minutes.

Speaking in a televised interview, Serena Williams admits that the Cincinnati-born player showed no fear.

“I think she really came out and played really well. She showed no fear.” – Williams said.

Earlier this summer, Caty McNally won her first WTA doubles title, with 15-year-old Coco Gauff. The two players had won the US Open girls’ doubles title together in 2018. According to career-best, McNally ranks 121st in the world.

Speaking about the match, Caty reveals that playing with the Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, gives her confidence and the belief that she can compete on the biggest platforms.

“For me, I think it just shows that I’m capable of playing with the best — I got a set off Serena Williams. Had her close in the second set, too. Had some chances. For me, it just gives me a lot of confidence, shows me that I can compete out on the biggest stages. Just keep my head down, I’m ready to go back to work.” – McNally revealed.
