Nicki Minaj Says Her Fifth Album Will Be Fierce, Fun, And Unapologetic

Nicki Minaj talks her new album on ELLE‘s new issue, says it will be fierce, fun and unapologetic.

Nicki Minaj recently announced that she’ll be retiring from the music scene to focus on building her family with her new man, Kenneth Petty. She did so surprisingly leaving her fans and team shocked to the core. Well, what’s a world without Nicki Minaj music? That we all wonder.

The rapper had reportedly been working on her fifth album before making the announcement. This, her team confirmed saying she had booked studio time and even reached out to the artists she planned on collaborating with.

In an interview for ELLE‘s October issue (which happened before her retirement announcement), the rapper talked about the fifth album she was meant to put together. She described the project as “fun, fierce, and unapologetic“. Speaking to the magazine she said;

It’s probably the most excited I’ve been about an album release in a really long time. This one incorporates all the things people love about Nicki, but it also just has a way bigger sound, so it goes perfectly with the [Fendi] collection.”

She also revealed in the interview that her fans wouldn’t have to wait a while to get the new album. It’s not clear if the rapper still plans to release, or finish the album after announcing that she was retiring.

Nicki has been teasing a new collection, Fendi Prints On with Fendi. The 127-piece collection was inspired by her song cover for her single, Chin Li on which she donned a Fendi fur bomber jacket, with a matching bikini bottom also by the fashion house. The collection is scheduled to hit stores in October.

In an ELLE exclusive, @NickiMinaj debuts her new collection with @Fendi. “I want to feel like I’m back in Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York, wearing Fendi,” she says. “I don’t only want to be front row rocking my Fendi; I want to be in the hood rocking my Fendi, too.” Link in bio for the full interview and photos.⁣ #FendiPrintsOn ⁣ ELLE October 2019⁣:⁣ Editor-in-chief: @ninagarcia⁣⁣ Starring: @nickiminaj⁣⁣ Written by: @niquepeeks Photographer: @stevenkleinstudio⁣⁣ Wearing: @fendi⁣⁣ Makeup: @makeupbymila, @kabukinyc⁣⁣ Hair: @arrogant_tae123⁣⁣, @ward_hair Nails: @sreyninpeng⁣⁣ Casting: @rickymichiels⁣⁣ Models: @akellopatricia, @isaiahkhamilton, @devintruss, @stuckinteenage⁣⁣ Produced by: @lolaproduction

About the partnership she said; “I can’t believe that when I was doing that little picture that day, with the Fendi jacket and Fendi panties on… I didn’t think that the actual company would think that that was dope. To know that they liked it that much, and now it’s on a T-shirt, is so iconic to me.”

She also hinted that she’d be launching her own brand in the future saying “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes! I’ve been really strategic and picky on purpose, turning some things down and waiting for the right opportunities. Once people see that you have selling power and you are able to impact a brand in such a positive way, then I think it’s only a matter of time. The Fendi collection alone made me feel like I would love to continue doing this–getting to that boss status. That’s where I would like to take fashion, for sure.”
