Meek Mill has unveiled Dream Chasers basketball courts in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Meek Mill has come through with his promise to the people of Philadelphia, where he grew up. Meek recently unveiled a basketball court in his hood, with help from many organizations including PUMA, Roc Nation, the Philadelphia Parks & Rec Department, and a few other local agencies.
On Saturday, the American rapper was there to open the recently refurbished basketball court to the public. The renovated court is located at the East Fairmont Park, right next to where the rapper grew up in North Philly. According to photos taken by TMZ, the new court now sports a new blue colour, with the logo “Dream Chasers” written on it. There are also some inspirational quotes written along the court’s sidelines. The newly renovated court is named after one of the rapper’s mixtapes.
While talking about the newly unveiled project, the rapper shouted out to the parties involved including PUMA, and record label, Roc Nation. When news broke about the court’s renovation in 2018, Meek had in a statement to TMZ explained why he had chosen the court, he said;
“North Philly will always be my home. When kids GI to East Fairmont park, they deserve to ball in the best conditions possible, so I’m glad they’ll have that opportunity now.”
Meek‘s life since getting out of prison in 2018 has been one of giving. In an Instagram post, the rapper announced the projects unveiling with a photo of the event and a caption saying;
“Redid some basketball courts in my hood today!!! S/o to #puma”
