Much ado about nothing. That’s what comes to mind with the new revelation that contrary to rumors about Jay-Z being about to be a part-owner of an NFL team, it is not true.
There’s been a whirlwind of emotions this last week about that deal in particular. Is he partnering with the NFL? Yes. Is it a deal to make him a part owner of an NFL team? No. He is only partnering on the entertainment front and it has nothing to do with being a part owner.
Recall that this is not the first time Jay-Z is having something to do with the NFL. Back in 2013, he had about 1% share in the Mets NFL team. There was some controversy around that too as it appeared he blew his stake in the company out of proportion.
The news now though is that he is no co-owning the NFL team. The report from CBS read: “Multiple people connected to NFL ownership and the league office have told CBS Sports that this TMZ-reported rumor is simply false, that there are no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner.”
Recall that there was another controversy on this issue too as Jay-Z was rumored to have told Jermaine Dupri not to be involved with the NFL only for him to do the same.
Jermaine has laid that to rest though when he said: “He and I never had a conversation where he told me don’t do what you’re doing. What our conversation was was that, you know what side I’m on. I understand what you’re doing. That’s what the conversation was.”
