The announcement was made on Twitter on Tuesday, Sept. 10 with a photo of the series title and the caption “TOP BOY ( a selection of music inspired by the series ) Available everywhere Friday Sept. 13th @topboynetflix”. There are no hints as to who could be singing these songs, or if Drake would be a part of the artists on the soundtrack.

Top Boy had previously been cancelled after the 2nd season. Drake who was intrigued by the storyline back in 2017 was shocked to hear that it was not happening again. The hit maker, after making a few calls, brought the series back to life again. According to reports, he’s also an Executive producer on the show, and was seen during its premiere in the UK.

Speaking to THR on why he got involved, he said,

That human element drew me in. I started just looking them up. Like, who are these people? Are these actors I should know? Are they just famous over there? I remember I hit Future, and I was just like, ‘This show is incredible.’”

The rapper also hinted during the show’s premiere that his work on the new season was inspired by people’s suggestion that he shouldn’t get involved with the series.
