Singer, songwriter, and record executive, Charli XCX teams up with enigmatic pop artist Sky Ferreira to release a new track titled ‘Cross You Out’.
The single is from XCX’s new album ‘Charli‘ to be released on September 13. The iconic pop pioneer has dropped two singles from the album so far; “Blame It On Your Love” and “Gone”.
Cross You Out is one of the many high-profile collaboration included in the album. The track explores the personal transformation that occurs following the end of a turbulent relationship and the complicated liberation within that.
The new hit was produced by PC Music’s A.G. Cook, who also doubles as Charli’s co-executive producer alongside Charli herself.
Charli talked about her feelings for the new song. She shared a post on Instagram, saying the collaboration with Ferreira is about “leaving some pretty traumatic people” from her past behind.
We are an ICONIC duo tbh. No but seriously, Sky, I’m so happy this collaboration has happened. I’ve always been a fan of your music/your vision. You are unique and brilliant and even though the music we make separately is sonically quite different, I feel like we sort of came up together in some senses (remember that next level V mag cover & all the mice peeing on the givenchy ??!!). This song means a lot to me, for me it’s about leaving some pretty traumatic people from my past behind me. It feels euphoric that this song is about to be out in the world so soon. Thank you for being a part of this with me. – she wrote.
