Beyoncé, Moonchild Sanelly & Tierra Whack – My Power ft. Nija, Busiswa, DJ Lag & Yemi Alade

The Gift‘s My Power with Beyoncé, Moonchild Sannelly, Busiswa, Tierra Whack, Nija, DJ Lag and Yemi Alade stands out on it’s own. There sure is fire burning when women come together on any project what so ever. This is the case with one of the many dope songs on The Lion King’s The Gift album, My Power. Fronted by an all-female-artists line up, there is unarguably real fire burning on the energy packed track.

The song produced by South Africa’s DJ Lag is fronted by a chorus by Nija who repeatedly sings the line;

They’ll never take my power, my power, my power”

The song is an upbeat track which celebrates the power of women.

23 year old American rapper, Tierra Whack is quite impressive as she gives an inviting first verse into the song which leaves the listener gasping for more. Tierra calls herself a goddess and a hundred degrees, the hottest. We definitely concur.

Beyoncé then takes the reins in the next verse and practically roars her way through it. We mean that literally. Her very simple lines on the song resonate with the struggle of being a woman. Lit all the way.

The entire song comes to a high rise when Busiswa takes the floor. You’d think she was leading a pack of female savages out to reclaim what’s theirs. The South African vocalist stuns with her verse and unarguably outshines everyone else including Beyoncé. Although we have no idea what she’s saying from start to finish, we can definitely relate.

Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and South Africa’s Moonchild Sannelly bring the song to a halt in the most deserving manner. All artists on the track burn as hot as Beyoncé herself. My Power stands out not only for what it’s about but also because the women on the track can relate to the story.
