5 Peace-Making Collaborations Nigerian Music Fans Would Appreciate
Disagreements are a part of human existence and would remain a part of nature until the end of time.
However, how we are able to move on from such frictions is the absolute test of humanity and brotherhood.
It is no different in the world of music. Beef, rancour and friction are ingredients that make the industry tick.
This is why we thought about a list of collaborations between music stars who might have disagreed in the past, and which would drive fans into a frenzy.
1. D'banj/Don Jazzy
When Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known as D'banj and Michael Collins Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy rode unto the Nigerian music industry in 2004, it was an absolute match made in heaven.
The duo had just returned home to Lagos after a sojourn in the United Kingdom and dropped the massive hit, "Tongolo". The rest as they say, is history...
Mo'hits Records was born and together, both Don Jazzy and D'banj made such national anthem and hits as "Mobolowowon", "Gbono Feli Feli", "Fall in Love", "Oliver Twist", just to mention a few. The awards, stardom and fortune also rolled in as expected with success.
Then came the acrimonious break up in 2012 which broke the hearts of fans of Mo'hits Records the world over. How each of D'banj and Don Jazzy have fared after the split is a story for another day.
However, a collaboration between the Koko Master and Don Baba J would definitely shut down the music industry for moths ahead.
That is why we really hope both heavyweights will work something out to give music fans a slice of the beauty from yesteryear. If for nothing, just as a parting gift and one last memory to hold on to.
R&B duo of identical twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye remain one of the most consistent in their craft on the African continent.
So amazing is their talent that they can sing, dance, and they've got a brother in Jude Okoye has been the brain behind their breathtaking music videos.
These brothers have produced such massive hits as "E No Easy", "Chop My Money", "Beautiful Onyinye", and "Personally", just to mention a few. Their efforts have won them critical acclaim, fame, fortune and several awards.
Then came the publicized feud and social media rants. So bad was it that several parties had to wade in. A fan even made a crying video which went viral in its own rights. They both stated they were going solo as Peter became Mr P, Paul became Rudeboy and Jude floated Northside Inc.
Well, the trio have come out to say peace has returned to the Okoye household which is wonderful news. However, fans are yearning for that next song that would finally put all these controversies to be. Get to work guys!
3. Plantashun Boiz
Plantashun Boiz were a Nigerian hiphop and R&B music group which consisted of Innocent Ujah Idibia known as 2Face, Chibuzor Oji known as Faze and Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo known as BlackFace.
They rode high and above in the 90s and might have laid the foundation of the flourishing music industry we have today.
But like every music ends, it didn't take long for these trio to seek solace in individual talents and outings. We all know the outcome...
However, Black Face has been in the news lately; accusing just about everyone of plagiarizing his materials, including 2Baba and Wizkid.
Probably this is a subtle shout-out for a collaboration. Such work which should also feature Faze would be an absolute epic!
Two of the biggest stars in the music industry right now and they both need no introduction. David Adedeji Adeleke, known as Davido and Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known as Wizkid have handsomely paid their dues in the industry, whichever way you choose to look at it.
Both of them have enjoyed such massive hits and abundant successes with several top-notch awards to show for it. However, there's been shades and jabs thrown at each other in the past.
Even though they once appeared to have buried the hatchet by performing on stage together, many fans anticipated a much talked about collaboration between the duo which never materialized.
Wizkid and Davido, it might finally be time to satisfy the yearnings and cravings of your adoring fans!
5. Don Jazzy/Olamide
Michael Collins Ajereh, known as Don Jazzy and Olamide Adedeji, known simply as Olamide or Olamide Baddo, are two of the biggest heavyweights of the Nigerian music industry today.
In fact, such is their clout and the influence they control that the entire nation went into a frenzied-overdrive following their Headies 2015 fall-out on new year's day. When it takes the intervention of Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, to settle a disagreement, then you know these aren't featherweights.
Even though Jazzy featured on Olamide's November 2014 smashing hit titled "Skelemba", adoring music fans would definitely love to see a post-beef collaboration between these two heavyweights. Get to work guys!
Bonus: Reekado Banks/Lil Kesh/Kiss Daniel.
Following the Headies 2015 fallout on new years day, can you imagine a collaboration between Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, known as Reekado Banks, Anidugbe Oluwatobiloba Daniel, known as Kiss Daniel and Keshinro Ololade, known as Lil Kesh? You guess might be as good as ours!
Overall, is there any other collaboration you'd love to see that didn't make our list? Why don't you leave your thoughts and opinion in the comment section below?
